But the same islands, on a private boat, on the right days, are among the most genuinely dramatic places you can spend a week together in Indonesia. This route builds the trip around two decisions most couples get wrong: chartering rather than joining, and giving yourselves somewhere soft to land afterwards.

Is Komodo a good honeymoon destination?

Should you charter a private boat or join a shared trip?

Afternoon. Pink Beach, then a snorkel stop, then Komodo or Rinca for the dragons with a ranger.

Evening. Back late and tired. Eat simply.

Booking a shared boat to save money, then spending the honeymoon in a queue. Staying in Labuan Bajo the whole week and wondering why it felt like a logistics exercise. Putting the boat day last, so bad weather has nowhere to move to. And flying out the same day as the final dive, which is both a bad idea and easily avoided.

Short on time, cut the island stay and run this in five days from Labuan Bajo, accepting that the trip ends in a harbour town. If a charter is out of budget, take a shared boat but pay for the smallest one you can find rather than the cheapest.
